Traveling to Mkushi takes approximately 4 hrs from the capital city Lusaka. There’s pretty good roads for the most part, except where we had to pay the toll…then it got bumpy for a short while. Also, the local Mkushi roads aren’t the greatest…but definitely passable.
We went to ATB lodge which has been in the area for many years. It’s located in a heavy farming area with some villages within short distances. The area is mountainous, very green in the rainy season and dusty in the summer. It gorgeous any how and the air smells clean!
We had delish lunch cooked by the lovely Mutanda who is the daughter of the proprietor. She’s also the one that arranged the local women for training. We did hand-washing, menstrual pads and general discussion on the needs of the women in the community.
